The name Ground Zero refers to fragmented, meandering, and residual experiences—and asks how such experiences can be reconstituted into shared public meaning within artistic practice.

Our work spans both conventional and unconventional public cultural contexts. From personal lived experiences and local cultural governance to museum-based cultural interpretation, we employ edible sculptures and mobile art installations to situate artistic creation within institutional frameworks, spatial conditions, and audience structures. Through this approach, our projects unfold as artistic actions that invite participation and response.

We envision Ground Zero as a form of artistic practice that comes to mind when seeking to understand Taiwan—one grounded in artistic participation and social sculpture as its core methodologies. Taiwan’s ambiguous and complex histories and contemporary realities form the conditions of our practice, allowing experience to continuously generate meaning across different cultural contexts and over time.

Meng-Yu, Hsu

Founder

Skilled at using creation as a tool for thinking and companionship, continuously organizing context and opening up possibilities for action amid complex situations and uncertainty. My partners see me as a good listener, highly perceptive, resilient, and steady, able to offer different angles and expansive perspectives in adversity. I am often responsible for opening up overlooked spaces for imagination, allowing people and matters to realign and continue moving forward.

Lucky Chen

Strategy Director

Once described by team members as a magician or a humanoid AI in a hidden role, I am in fact a strategist passionate about organizational design and leadership. I possess an intuition for uncovering the core of problems and can quickly transform complex information into clear paths for action, supporting the organization with calm and comprehensive thinking and firmly anchoring the most valuable directions for development amid change.

Ofelia Yang(Ofe)

Careful and responsible in work, with a strong emphasis on management and execution efficiency; outwardly rigorous and rational, yet also gentle and humorous at heart—a partner who is cool on the outside but warm on the inside. Enjoys working with others to refine abstract ideas into reality, turning them into things that truly remain.

Sylvia Liang

Project Coordinator | Project Implementation Strategist

With empathy and observation at my core, I am skilled at reading situations on site, organizing context, and finding workable methods amid complexity and uncertainty. In work, I am flexible yet steady, with strong situational responsiveness and coordination ability, able to attend carefully to every human-related aspect. I am also especially attentive to things in motion and transition, helping the value of what is not yet finished to be seen and continuously moving projects forward.

Hsiu, Chou

Human Observation Intern

Inclined to enter the field through subtle and difficult observations, responding to bodily states, spatial relationships, and interpersonal atmospheres.
Having long worked alongside the body, I am familiar with building connections among perception, rhythm, and labor, allowing creation and execution to take root in reality.
